I think I said before that it was a recording on vinyl that got me hooked on Service as a kid. Hank Snow reading Tales of the Yukon. Mostly Robert Service but also has The Face on the Barroom Floor. I may have to fire up the turntable today.

Takes me back to the literature class taught by Mr. Parks, English teacher, drama coach and all round good guy at old Dacula High School back in the 60's.
He'd read Robert Service and you could hear a pin drop we'd be so 'tralled. The bell would jar us out of our seats at the end of class and every one of us would be wanting our coats to ward off the arctic cold.
Gonna have to gather the Grand children 'round for some quality time soon.
