Reptiles.....

..... I don't know about you guys, but it is definitely springtime here...... I even happened to see The First Reptiles (or amphibians, if you're splitting hairs) of the year today...... first off was a nice, spindly snake that slid across the road as I drove into town..... couldn't snap a photo, though - he was too quick...... but the second one was a bit less active....... here he is.....

.... feel free to click here for a bigger version......

.... still can't see him?.... well, here you go......

white_tree_frog_big_closeup.jpg

..... it was written by the ancients many, many moons ago..... that when the Great White Tree Frog emerges from his lair and nips flies while the honeysuckle soaks up the Sunshine, Spring has arrived.......

.... yeah, I made that last part up, but still, it's good to see the world emerging...... hey, it's been a long time a'coming......

..... oh, and before I forget, here is a snippet of those steaks from yesterday...... you'll have to forgive the camera angles and general lack of effort on my part..... but in my defense, I was trying to catch a pair of woodpeckers who were scuttling about through the trees...... thus all the footage of the concrete in my garage as I tried to find the beasties without using the viewfinder on the camera.......

.... bad video, sure.... but it is a nice shot of Sylvia and Cary resting.... sheesh, who would have imagined that someone would name a Cadillac 'Cary'?.......

That is one sorry excuse for an "amphibian".

.... Hey, it is early in the year... That's the best that I could come up with.... And yeah, I got a new grill for my birthday last October.....

You need to come down here if you want to see amphibians and reptiles! The 12 foot gator is officially gone and has been turned into ladies' handbags, belts, shoes and haute cuisine for the local sports bar, but there are others lurking. We have only to drive down the road...

I reckon the snake be a reptile and the frog an amphibian and the only time to split hares is when you are gonna put them on a bar-b-q grill

Great White Tree Frog..hhhmmm...That reminds me. There's a small town in NW Tennesse by the name of Kenton. Kenton claims to be the home of the white squirrels. Yes, white squirrels. Seen'em myself. They appear to be some white varity of the grey squirrel as they appear normal is all respect, excepting the white fur, and not having the pink eyes of a true albino. Been a while since I was through there but I guess they're still there.
Mind yourself should you pass through. If you run over one of the little critters, you will find yourself in deep shiite. They are very protective of their white squirrels.
That reminds me of fella I once knew who was a bit "teched", weird not being the proper word. He said he passing through Kenton one day and, on impulse, stopped at the city hall to inquire about the name of the town. It had occured to him that it might be named after Simon Kenton(Butler). Famed frontiersman and friend of Daniel Boone. It was known the Kenton had hunted in that part of Tennessee at one time. Fella said the people there acted like he was some kinda nut and knowing him that understandable. But he also said no one had a clue of who the town was named after so he might be right after all.
