.... I know that I have been out of the proverbial bloggy loop for a while, but I did need to drop in to say that this is possibly the greatest music video in the history of music videos.......
.... feet and ears have always seemed unearthly to me, actually.... but shoes?....... I do love some shoes when they are being worn properly.....
Odd story about shoes. I was at a function this past weekend, dressed to the nines. I was wearing flats as I did my running around, until the actual function was to begin. I sat down in the lobby, pulled my 4" heels, that I can't run all over in, out of my bag, was putting them on and heard a *click*. I looked up and this really old lady was taking a picture of me changing out of my flats into my heels. WTF? I thought of all the things going on that day, she had to get a picture of me... changing my flippin' shoes?
Cause it's easy for them to hide in their shell and keep all the annoyances out? Well, until someone scoops 'em up and eats 'em. But we were going with happy right? heh.
.... you know, everyone should see this movie at least once in their lives....... trust me, hoosierboy, your remote control is leading you towards a very civilized path.....
I have to remember to add that to my list of favorite movies. I have not seen it in about 3 years, I guess a few years after the remake came out (the remake suckled). I have seen it many times though and highly recommend it. It truly is a great movie about great courage. Yes it is fiction but still it portrays courage, loyalty, friendship, love, dedication, patriotism, necessary violence toward a good end, and so on.
For some reason, reading and writing about this one brought another movie to mind, one that is not really like it at all except maybe for the courage and resourcefulness of the individual: The Naked Prey. Anoher great movie.
The last movie I watched was "Blue Max" in 1972.
My life have/has/had led me away from flicks

I saw that one quite a few years ago. There was a remake recently (2002?) with Heath Ledger that wasn't as good as the older version.
Have you read the book? If not, let me know & I'll mail it to you, and I'll pick it up this fall!

@ glenn..... sir, I could not agree more....
@ keeskennis... I understand.... but I still manage to make time for a flick once in a while....
@ El Capitan.... thank you for the offer, sir.... but The Missus bought a digital copy of the book and is currently reading it on her Nook.... I'll give it a whirl once she is finished with it...
..... give this a try one day when you're feeling blue, folks....
.... SWG's Easy Southern Peach Cobbler ..
.... preheat your oven to 350..... rub a stick of butter around the edges of a 9X13 2-inch deep baking dish and the place the rest of the stick in the bottom of the dish.... place in oven until butter has completely melted....
... peel, de-stone, and cut into chunks 8 nice Georgia peaches.... and in a small sauce pan add the peaches, 1/4 cup of white sugar, and 2 tablespoons of butter..... set to a medium heat and stir until the sauce boils and the peaches are tender..... you may have to simmer it for 10-15 minutes to ensure the peaches are tender enough....... set aside to cool.....
.... add 1 cup of white sugar, 3/4 cup of self-rising flour, and 3/4 cup of milk to a mixing bowl and mix until most of the clumps are whisked away to clumpland.... add a few dashes of cinnamon if you wish..... even a few drops of vanilla flavoring - if you happen to have it around..... otherwise, you can skip the cinnamon and vanilla....
.... remove your baking dish from the hot oven and gently pour in your flour mixture..... then evenly spoon your peaches across the baking dish - taking care to make sure there is an even dispersing....
..... place your baking dish down onto a baking tray, return to the oven, and bake 45-50 minutes..... allow it all to cool down a bit and serve with a scoop of Mayfield's French vanilla ice cream.....
.... peach cobbler, folks.... it doesn't get much easier than that......
We bought some Georgia peaches last week, and I made Toby a peach pie to die for. I'm kind of old fashioned making a two crust pie rather than a cobbler, but your recipe sounds quick and easy.
Only one thing I like better than a fruit cobbler, and that is 'naner puddin'.
I'd gladly walk across hot coals for a homemade, Nilla Wafer laden, banana pudding. Momma always put the mother of all meringues on hers. Good god it is tasty.
...... so I boarded Blanche yesterday morning and headed west from Athens....... and after climbing up onto the Cumberland Plateau at Rockwood, I proceeded to pilot her past Smyrna, Alexandria, Lebanon, and Sparta..... ending with Carthage..... all at 85 and 90mph........
..... perhaps I need to name her Argo instead of Blanche.......
..... I will say this, though...... the visit to Vanderbilt was well worth the effort........ and there was much rejoicing.....
.... today's adventure here on The Compound is cherry pie..... but first?.... well, you're going to need yourself some pie crust, non?.... oui..... so here you go, rubberneckers......
....and hey, crack yourself an egg in a bowl.... add one tablespoon of white vinegar and five tablespoons of cool water to it..... and beat it up like it just stole your nephew's lunch money... set it aside....
... find yourself another bowl.... add 3 cups of self-rising flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1/2 a teaspoon of ground cinnamon.... mix that stuff up nicely..... and slowly begin folding in 1 1/4 cups of vegetable shortening.... I used a butter knife, and personally it worked out quite well.... however, if you make very many pies I'd recommend hiring someone else to do this so that you don't end up with a right arm like Sonny Liston.... or perhaps Popeye.....
.... anyway, once you get that mixed up so that your mixture is globbing together about the size of a pea, begin adding your egg-water-vinegar mixture and just keep on a'stirrin'.....
... and hey, there you have it...... half the mixture and chill each half in the fridge for a few hours...... roll out on wax paper, and viola..... a top and bottom pie crust for The Ages....
.... and you all are, after all, quite welcome......
Now all I have to do is find and pit a few cherries.....might oughter run by the store.....and find somebodies wife who'll be willing to make the crust and then bake th' sucker.
..... well, it WAS quite an adventure........ hey, who knew that cherries were so fickle?......... not that I have that much experience with them, but still...... they were actually quite surprising........
Works best if you take the joice from the fruit and heat it with some cornstarch slurry (cornstartch and water) and let that thicken and then stir the fruit into that thickened juice. Gives you the best color of the fruit and the best taste of the fruit comes through as well.
