Anticipation....

... wow..... autumn is almost here....

... I woke early today and brewed a pot of coffee.. taking care to be quiet while the Wife lay sleeping in bed....

... it rained last night - a slow, steady rain.... and this morning a thick mixture of smoky fog and steam is laying thick in the woods outside my window... slowly lifting towards the treetops as the sunlight filters through the clouds...

... soon it will be burned away by the rising Sun... the day will be hot again, most likely... but the mornings and evenings are showing the first signs of cooling.... ever so slightly, the season is changing....

.... in a few weeks, the leaves will begin to color... and the shades of green will be replaced by reds, yellows, and orange....

... I do so love these cusps.... these times when all is mixed... not fully one or another - a season in motion....

Autumn is my favorite season. Unfortunately it is a season we don't have here in S. Fl!

I love Autum. Its been feeling like the beginning of it for 2 weeks now, but I kind of think I didn't get enough of a summer. Not fair!

I am sooo loving the late summer weather up here. Cool - high of 72 yesterday. That evening drive home, hitting the farmland, seeing all those golden tones with a light mist just floating along the top - yeah. Stunning. Makes the drive worth while.

All it means to me is that the leaves will be falling off those damn post oak trees on my neighbors place and blowing all over my place. Well, the upside is that it means cooler weather and hurricane season on the wane

I'm feeling it!

Around midnight I sat on the porch and watched the mist rolling across this mountain valley...so calming.

I'm thinking 'Ha! Autumn my ass!' Since I am out here in the desert, there is no Autumn, just growing season, and heat season. Though it will be nice when the temps get back down below 100+...

I LOVE fall! And now that I'm out of the desert, I'm SO excited. And I can't wait for my drive through TN!

The weather has cooled finally in Oklahoma. Had the windows rolled down at 5pm yesterday. Lots of rain lately so everything is really green. Beautiful days.

I actually saw 3 red leaves yesterday. Kinda made me sad. Hey, where in TN are you?

As much as I *always* love Autumn, this year I am really, really ready to kick the door shut on Summer. I have had enough. Ugh.

You know some of the best people in world were born in the fall of the year... And that is just another reason to love that season even more ;)

The most enchanting season of them all, and your post captured some beautiful imagery.

Autumn is my favourite as well - you almost can't help but have it as your favourite when you live here.
I also love "Indian Summer" - when it's a really warm first few weeks of September, just before autumn truly arrives. I guess that probably isn't "PC" anymore...up here we'd have to call it "First Nations Summer" now...;)
