... I was watching Fox last night, and a thought struck me... Shep and Geraldo are seriously freaking out... maybe it was just because they were talking with O'Reilly... anyway, they were seriously wigging out... was it grandstanding?.. I don't know... hey, if I were surrounded by 30,000 extremely pissed off people at the convention center, I might be a tad nervous myself... anyway, I thought it unprofessional... at the end of the day, I don't want "passion" or "drama" in my news... I want the facts... when given the facts of the matter, I can create my OWN drama and passion, thank you very much... I know the conditions are horrible.. I know the damage is biblical... I know the suffering is monumental... I can see that myself.. what I DON'T need is reporters losing their cool on national television..
... but, you know, it's all too much to fathom.. it really is...cities as far away as Knoxville are offering housing....
... anyway, after having the television on all day in the background, I finally turned off the news and threw in a DVD... a complete season's episodes of Blackadder II... I highly recommend it for taking your mind off things.. watching Rowan Atkinson thrash Baldrick soothes the soul, people... in many, many ways...

Time To Switch Off
Man, can I relate. I just had to turn off the radio in the car, because the venom on the talk stations coming from both sides of the political spectrum was unbearable.
Listening to the Eagles was much better for my mental health.
Blackadder II is in some ways the peak of that set of series. Blackadder was not too bright in the first series, but in the second series he's the most intelligent one there surrounded by idiots.
I made sure to bring ALL of the Blackadder DVDs to France with me.
My hubby and I thought they were freaking out too. Good grief! I have been taking a break from the coverage today (especially when I see Geraldo looking like one of those novely trolls with the wiggy hair). They need to pass out some zanax or something.
I think Bill is kinda "pithy". He can be, sittin' in his chair up their out of the situation. Shep, I think, freaked because he actually couldn't believe that stuff was goin' on in his country and was usin' his tools to get the message out. Geraldo... He was milkin' it man.
Just my .02 worth.
What I would have liked to have seen was that Shep quit cowtowin' to Bill and call him out.
I'm with you Eric! I want my news as news not as the latest soap opera (even in biblical proportions!) I've had it with news people - they are all idiots. It's time to break out the CDs and DVDs and quit listening to maniacs who froth at the mouth. *grin*
