Kinky Friedman...

... and the Texas Jewboys provide us with some refreshing political views...

"Friedman said the main priorities in his campaign will be reforming the Texas education system, adding safeguards in the judicial process where Texas ranks as the nation's leader in capital punishment and establishing a peace corps for the state.

Plus, he wants "to fight the wussification of Texas."

"I am determined to get back to a time when the cowboys all sang and their horses were smart," Friedman said."

... heh heh... I'm not a political person, but I have to admit... I simply cannot WAIT to watch the debates for this one...

What he forgets to mention is that the horses were often smarter than the singing cowboys who rode them...

Besides being a talented songwriter and perfomer, Kinky is extremely funny. He writes a column in the Texas Monthly Magazine that is always entertaining. He lives in Kerrville, but spends a lot of time in the Austin area.

Kinky isn't far off at all with his praise of the singing coyboys.

Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and William Boyd (who portrayed Hopalong Cassidy, who was NOT a singing coybow, but the point stands) promoted old-fashioned conservative values. They also were strong proponents of racial equality and fair play back in an era where that was NOT the trendy Hollywood position to take.

We could do worse that look to these guys as heroes.

I can tell you now, for a flat-a$$ FACT, that if ol' Kinky is serious about wanting to re-do to governor's manse, he'll take on the issue of illegal immigration - as far north as Houston, hospitals are closing due to non-paying/non-insured "undocumented workers" ................ 'regular folks' are getting fed up with rising taxes & other infrastructure costs associated with the "immivasion".
Also, he'd be wise to jump on Perry's anticipated "super-super higway", a toll road built & administered {tolls collected} for 50 years by a MEXICAN COMPANY.
Hey, Minnesota had "The Body", California has "The Terminator" - I'd LOVE to see 'Tejas' with "Governor Kinky"!! :)
