Spam in a can...

... the past few days, clear and cold skies have been the norm... as a result, Venus and Mars have both been clearly visible during my morning drive... at around 7am, Mars is low to the East... and Venus is high to the SSE... the two brightest things in the sky... you know, I still find it incredible to imagine that we have a little "rover" running around up there...

.. a few weeks ago, I downloaded the schedule for viewing the International Space Station... did you know that you can see it from Earth with the naked eye?... yep... you sure can... sometimes, you see it for only 4 or 5 seconds... other times, the arc across the sky lasts longer.... at first glance, it looks like a shooting star... a tiny glowing orb that streaks across the horizon... 17,500 miles per hour... spam in a can, children.... absolutely incredible...

... so, if you get bored tonight... go and check out when the ISS is going to pass by... get yourself a compass, and go see if you can find it as it spirals past.... it's a cheap way to spend an evening, to be sure... but it always makes me wonder just what we're going to do next..

I found my chart. I'll have to try finding the ISS now :-)

Right. It's gonna be FREEZING outside again tonight. I ain't goin' out there! My ass would fall right off!

I'll just have to catch that light in the sky some other time.

Low Earth Orbit (LEO), you can't beat it for the view of the planet, or FROM the planet. Too bad about that atmospheric drag...
