Clay Canfield...

...as I mentioned a while back, I had the pleasure of hearing Clay Canfield play a few days ago.... in Nashville.... for those of you who have never meandered down Broadway, the place is absolutely alive with live music and bars... it is paradise indeed, friends.... but, the strange thing about me choosing to head into "The Stage" was that the music was different... instead of the normal country being played... sounds of a guitar being played to the limit... that's what we heard... and, that's why.. when faced with a street FULL of bars and live music, we chose The Stage.. who was playing that guitar? and, blowing on that harmonica?... Clay Canfield.... here is a sample... him playing guitar, harmonica, and singing.... un-accompanied.... Guitar Man.... and, my personal favorite of his.... Buffalo Grass... a true Cowboy Song if one ever existed.... in fact, Chris Ledoux has just recorded Clay's song on his latest album.... but, I still prefer Clay's version.... so, check it, people...

...but, the reason I am writing this... is not just to let you know about Mr. Canfield... I also want to ask for your help.... he has just been narrowed down into the top 30 in the WSM Merle Haggard Music Search.... and, they are accepting votes from the public... pick your five favorite singers/songwriters, and the top 4 get to be heard by Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson... the winner actually will open for Merle and Willie in a summer concert in New Mexico... so, if you don't mind... mozy on over to WSM, and give a vote to Clay... I'd appreciate it.... oh, and picking him as "5" means you like him best.... now, go and vote, dammit...

I couldn't agree more. . . My mother and I had our first visit to Nashville the last week in July and were fortunate to catch Clay at "The Stage" and on our way back from IN at "Legends". We bought his White House Sessions CD and cannot get the tunes out of our heads. His beautiful voice and haunting melodies seem to live in my head. All throughout the day I realize that I am hearing "Over and Over" or "Come on In" along with all the other GREAT tunes on the CD just on repeat in my head and it always make me smile. Let's all vote for Clay and help him in his endeavor.

I met Clay and Polly in Vt. last Dec., I waited on them. I used to hang out @ the Hall of Fame, in Nashville. After takeing their order and chatting, they went out and came back with 2Cds for me. I love him, his music is great! I was emailed later that month and told of Billy Large's death, also that Pauline Smith did'nt make it. Clay had mentioned Kalispell, Mt. My daughter and I are heading back to Mt. So~~~~ I hope to Clay play again someday. I hope he wins! He got my vote....A-5

My son lives in Nashville and tours with Kenny Chesney. I visited him (from California)in early August. We did the "Honky Tonk" thing and stopped in "The Legends" after a few others. Clay Canfield (whom I'd never heard of)was on stage, and I was BLOWN AWAY !! This guy is GREAT !! The sound is so genuine and pure. I bought a CD, and and nowing on here to buy another. Like above, you can't get it out of your head once you hear it. He has MY VOTE and SUPPORT !!!
